My long-life passion for exploring cultures outside of my own has led me to interesting and often surprising directions. For instance, my fascination for Mexican and Hispanic culture helped me develop close professional relationships with colleagues in my previous job at TTC. I have recently worked with African-American students at Henry Ford Academy, School for Creative Studies.
In 2011, I took the initiative (outside of my prescribed curriculum) to do graduate level work on the history of Arab American community in Dearborn. My research identified top issues that U.S. Arab adolescents face, and uncovered the contribution the first major Arab American literary figure, Ameen Rihani.
