I am certified in the state of Michigan in the area of Learning Disabilities (SM) to teach K-12. My Highly Qualified Teacher status in Psychology (CE). Since 2012, I have served as a Special Education teacher at Clara B. Ford Academy. Like all other life activities, education is all about relationships. Relationships with Colleagues I am proud to be a professional that is fully trained and certified in both Special Education and General Education. This gives me a distinct advantage in collaborative relationships and co-teaching activities in today’s inclusive classroom. At the same time, I do what a Special Education teacher does best—providing one-on-one attention, securing special accommodations, and adapting lessons for students with learning disabilities. Relationships with Parents An active father for 20 years, I understand parents’ concerns inside and out. I am respectful, sensitive, and empathetic. Parents will appreciate my commitment to their children's needs—administering accurate assessments and constructing lesson plans that are based on science and the legal provisions under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Relationships with Students I model to students a winning, “can-do” attitude that will help them meet life’s tough challenges ahead. Through the IEP process, I will effectively connect the student to school and community resources, and construct sensible individualized education plans. Go to Next Page Go to Top |
