"Was Mr. G. really a hobo? Did he really walk across America?" His past is shrouded with mystery. One thing is for certain. Students love Mr. G. because he brings great literature to life. It's like he walked out of the pages of The Grapes of Wrath or The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Good books can contribute to a sense of meaning and the possibilities of daily existence. They are therapeutic. They motivate students to be better people—successful and happy. I have demonstrated my enthusiasm for cross-cultural literature by doing Masters level work on The Book of Khalid (1911), the first Arab-American novel. Next to reading, the ability to write is considered by researchers as the most important determinant of success. Again, I am well qualified to teach writing to young people. For 12 years, I practiced professional writing of high-profile advertising and promotions in the business world.
